The Legacy Project

The Idea

For the last 75 years, the British Pakistani community has worked hard to put down roots and build their livelihoods from the ground up, planting the seeds of hope for future generations in the process. Those seeds have flourished, despite adversity, into a community embedded in every corner of this country, innovating, and reaching new heights like never before.

To celebrate our 75th anniversary, The Legacy Project was created as a unique tribute by and for the community – to honour those before us and leave behind a positive legacy by investing back into our community.

THE LEGACY FUND

The cornerstone of The Legacy Project is the creation of The Legacy Fund.

The Legacy Fund is about supporting, empowering and encouraging those who have not been as fortunate on their journey. The challenges that have been felt by our community nationally have ranged from education and unemployment to health, crime, accessibility and many, many more.

This is where the Legacy Fund steps in. A first-of-its-kind fund that will be available to all organisations and individuals working for the benefit of the British Pakistani community across the vast political and geographical spectrum.

We believe in empowering donors to make a difference. So every time you make a donation, sponsor a tree or buy merchandise from The Legacy Project website, you are also supporting the incredible work of The Legacy Fund, with income generated from activities related to the Project, directed towards the Fund itself.

The Aim of the fund will be to Provide funding and grants for various projects including but not limited to, activities for the youth, volunteer programmes and the development of communal facilities. It will work towards facilitating projects and initiatives geared towards meeting local community needs by providing structured funding and support.

Never before has a fund like this been established that will be available for any member of the community to apply to regardless of their geographic location, political associations or organisation.

We hope the Legacy Fund will not only facilitate the work that many are already doing in their communities (organisations like All4Youth, Mentyoo, UPSIGN and Alchemy Arts to name a few), but that it will grow their efforts and encourage others to come forward with new programmes and projects that cater to the needs of their community. This is truly is a project for the people by the people.

Importantly, we hope to sponsor projects not just based on value for money, but also considering the long term impact of proposals and programmes.
